‘It’s not working’ – Man City urged to consider sacking Pep Guardiola after Arsenal loss

Manchester City have urge to consider sacking Pep Guardiola after their latest humbling defeat against Arsenal at the weekend.

City were convincingly beaten 5-1 away to Arsenal สมัคร ufabet กับเรา รับโบนัสทันที on Sunday, extending Guardiola’s winless run against the Gunners to five games in all competitions.

The result also continues City’s turbelent season which sees the defending Premier League champions fighting to stay inside the top four.

City endured a particularly barren run towards the end of 2024, winning justtwo out of their final 15 matches in all comeptitions to round out the calendar year.

Despite that form, the club chose to stick by Guardiola, signing the Spaniard to a two-year contract extension in November in the middle of the disappointing run.

City also invested heavily in the January transfer window in a bid to rejuvinate their squad, signing Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov for a combined £123million.

However, their results and performanes have remained inconsisent, losing handsomely against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League before their thumping defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

And now, former Manchester United centre-back Mikael Silvestre believes that the club should be considering whether now is the right time to part ways with their legendary manager.

‘Honestly I would (consider sacking Guardiola). If I was running the club or I was an executive, I would have these thoughts with the owners,’ Silvestre said on beIN Sports.

‘How many times have they trying to readdress the team and make sure they’re winning games and dominating like they use to. It’s not working.’

Andy Gray, however, insisted it would be hard to imagine that City are going to act so hastily despite the latest performance.

‘The level of consistency over four years has been staggering and that buys you some credit even after half a season of bad form,’ he said.

‘Don’t forget they starte the season like a train and zoomed off to the top of league but now the whells have fallen off.

‘I don’t know what the minds of the owners and the chief execs are but I would be amaze if the topic of Guardiola being remove from his job has been discusse.’

Guardiola, meanwhile, insiste his City side must learn and adapt after their latest defeat.

‘We had a plan but we did not do it because they have pride and they want to solve it, but that is not the way,’ the Spaniard said.

‘Always you have to be at that level and stick what we talk (about) but unfortunately it happene and hopefully we can learn a lesson for the future.

‘We will reflect and talk with the players and hopefully it won’t happen again.’
